Ibiza Winter Residents

Hola all!

I've lived in Ibiza year round for the past 3 years, and I have loved every minute of it. (Well nearly every minute anyway!)

I'm just posting here to see how many people here are resident on the island year round? Some friends and I are setting up various events this winter (we hope) and I am trying to include as many people as possible in these, so I have been posting on as many forums as I can find. We have also started an Ibiza Winter residents group on facebook to try to get everyone together. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20498816064

One of the activities that has been suggested to me is an amateur dramatics society. I know that there used to be a group in Ibiza called the Ibiza theatre Trust, but I am lead to believe it is no longer running (If it still is please do let me know!) If anyone would be interested in something like this, or any other winter activities - probably to include walks, hikes, bar nights, dinners, club nights, possibly paintballing if there is enough interest, and any other ideas anyone might have, please do contact me here, join the facebook group or email me at rachael.turnock@gmail.com

xx

Hi Rachael,

I'd like to get involved in things this winter and could help in promoting anything. I can put posters up in my shop, let customers know of things, send broadcast emails to all members of this forum, inform my facebook friends and post on my blog.

I think the amature dramatics question was answered elsewhere on this forum. No...nothing anymore but I would be happy to get involved, especially set design and maybe costume lending...my shop is a bit like a fancy dress shop ;)

One idea I had was playing rounders, men against women, at Cala Llenya beach as it is very big and round shaped. It's also deserted in the winter meaning no-one would object to balls being blasted about. It's a good location as well as most expat residents are the Santa Eulalia end of the island. We could each take something for a picnic.

I'll do my best to get more people to join this forum. Keep us posted. x

Hi Hannah,

Thanks for the support. Love the rounders idea! We were thinking of a picnic as an initial event - something quite informal that would give everyone the chance to say hi! I was going to plan something the other week, but the weather hasn't really been conducive to picnics of late! Apparently the weather is due to get better next week, so I will try to plan something soon. I'm thinking possibly the first week of November as I know that a lot of people are still working until the end of October, trying to make the most of the end of the season. I'll post the event in the facebook group, and also on here for everyone too.

I'm looking into the amateur dramatics thing also. I'm going to try to get in touch with some of the people who used to run the Theatre trust to get their advice on setting something up properly, as in order to put on shows etc I believe the group will need to be registered as a charity etc. Again I'll keep everyone posted on the progress!

xx
