I am looking for an 18ft to 20ft speed boat to buy. must have 4.3 inboard engine or more and trailer. Suitable for skiing. also dry dock or garage to house it. Thanx
If it were me, I would buy a boat either built before 1998 or put into EU service before 1998 because otherwise you need to ensure the boat complies with loads of EU regulations....
In fact, I'd go for four canoes strapped together with an outboard at the back;)

Hi, What sort of are you looking to spend ? There a few about at the moment , but some of them, I don`t know who told the owner`s the value of them ,,,,,, but lets just say, ha ha ha you must be joking for that pile of sh*t !!!!!. I am looking for one myself, although I am not that fond of Inboard, so if you let me know what you are looking for in a bit more detail, eg more Ski or Wake ? If I see anything around, I will pass it on, no matter what it is, you will definatly want a bimini on it,
Also be a little carefull if you buy anything with an engine here, especially a boat !!!! not all but most peoples idea of servicing and maintainance, is if it stops in needs servicing, Some of the even larger dealers have not got a clue, I repaired one in the summer, little jet boat with a Merc inboard, the dealer took the engine out, compleatly stripped it, said the reed`s and the exhaust gasket were dead, thats what the problem is, charged 1800, Put the boat in the water, exactly the same as it was not a very happy bunny that one ,,,, I cleaned the blocked jet in the carb, Fine then , oopss
Another (probably better) Idea would be to buy something in England, And have it brought down (transport companies will tow it down for you , Jiggins brought my car on a trailer for less than the petrol/tolls etc would have cost me ) They are cheeper, especially with the at the moment, also you get out of the transfer fee`s etc, and get it registered as a uk Boat. you will also need a licence to drive it. (well you should do Be careful if you are tempted to buy something here that is cheep because it has no papers ( registration ) It has been known for the Guardia to walk up and ask for paper`s, If you can not provide them with enough proof on the spot that the boat is legal, They can and wiil confiscate it, and charge you for the privilage of getting it back when you can prove it is yours, Have a good one Tim ps If you see one of these about at %70 off in the sales give me a shout , mmmmmmmmmmmm http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2008-Sea-Doo-SPEEDSTER-Wake-430-HP-2-Year-Full-Warranty_W0QQitemZ130193144719QQihZ003QQcategoryZ1296QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
pss Hanna You need a spell checker,,,, or maybe I do
Thanx for the advice we are going to buy in England and have it towed over . we have seen a great 19ft bayliner just for skiing and doing the beaches it has a 4.3 engine and has only been used in fresh water ! sounds too good to be true ! its £18000.00 but the owner will take less (not sure how much less !) my partner is doing his competant crew course in Liverpool next month so all being well we may be whizzing round the bays by May ! if not it will be back on the lilo ! thanx again sam
Make sure it has the correct EU paperwork. I read somewhere that if it doesn't, you have to pay the EU 4000 to come out and measure it!

keep an eye on ebay, there are some cheep things on there at the moment, post xmas credit card bill`s , wife nagging about money in drive that could be spent on her etc, best time of the year to buy, you can drive a hard bargain Which bayliner ? I must admit to not being a fan of them myself, I have used 2, probably both around 98 ish year, I found the big heavy engine and the fuel tank in the back, gave a (skiing) slow ish pull out and a big wake to fall over also the one of them I boarded on, the wake was nice but it was very difficult to get the speed right as it was just on the edge of planing, kept falling off the plane, on the plus side, they were very nice "lazing about" boats due to the size/space/ platforms, and compared to my previous 18ft Picton with a 175 mariner ski, fuel cost`s were very good, Have a good one Tim
Cheers for the info ! its the bayliner 205 we've looked at but not had a test drive yet ! looking at my credit card bills ! it may be a blow up dingy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway theres always the lottery to win !!!!! i wish ! will take all your tips on board and let you know when she's having her first voyage ha ha ! Thanks again Sam
